We had seen Junction 9 studio pics pop up on Instagram, and the charming studio made us want to check it out!
Location: Inglewood, 919 9 Ave SE
Price: $40 for monthly unlimited, $20 for a drop in
First impression: The prettiest yoga studio we’ve ever seen! You walk up the stairs to the reception area, which also doubles as a cafe and retail area, offering coffee service and selling cold-presses juice. There’s plenty of comfy seating, and fun accessories to peruse, like Junction 9 branded S’well bottles, little knick knacks and local goods. The change room is also very pretty, with yummy smelling soaps. From there, head upstairs to the yoga studio (there is also a Pilates studio). All hardwood floors, high ceilings, and just plain prettiness throughout, a gorgeous space.
Actual impression: We didn’t realize Junction 9 doesn’t offer hot classes, and were semi disappointed when we found out, because hot yoga is our preference. However, after going for a month, we came to love some of the non-heated classes offered at Junction.
- Classic Yoga: “a practice designed with function and fundamentals of a Hatha based class. In this class there has been a deliberate omission of Sun Salutations to bring a class that moves at a very accessible pace to bring focus to awareness of the body” – very approachable class. We loved the Monday class taught by Lauren
- Vinyasa Yoga: “a power class steeped in endurance, stamina, breath, and commitment.” – Our favourite at Junction – try the Tuesday night class taught by Jen
- Flow & Restore Yoga: “combines our Flow and Restore classes to balance and blend your practice.” – a great mix! It starts off pretty fast-paced and then ends with some relaxation.
Tip: Junction 9 holds rooftop yoga sessions in the summer – we’ve never been but will definitely be checking it out next year.
xo, late & lovely
